For The Imperium: This is chaos, baby!
22/03/10 || Trauma
If you follow my writing at all, you might remember I reviewed this group’s previous E.P., “In/Die”. Since you most likely don’t follow my writing, this is my review. Here’s the thing about these guys, before you read further. They don’t quite give two shits about what you, or I, think. They do whatever the fuck they want, and they do it incognito like a bunch of cowards.
Sometimes I can be pretty conceited, I would like to think that they read my review and because of that they got rid of auto-tune and rapping. For that I love them a tad more, even if they never saw my review. The more likely scenario is that they wanted to do something yet again completely different. It appears as if the singing overall sounds a lot more whiny this go-around, though it’s been a while since I listened to “In/Die”. Think an MTV singer who wanted to get with some decent if not eclectic musicians who know a thing or two about fucking you in the ear. They won me over, though, by being so completely dynamic with their approach to music. You’re not going to get bored listening to For The Imperium, that much is at least a fact. Most of what I said previously still stands with these guys. There is a high chance you will completely hate this band. Trust me, about 99% of me wants to hate this band. My mind is like America, though, and the top 1% gets to make the decisions and it decided that I liked them. Oh yes, I got all political on your asses. Since I’m on the topic, let me say “Fuck you,” to all you American liberals. You don’t deserve my money. It’s for hookers and beer, not your coughs or boo-boos.
So what does that 1% like so much about these guys (look at that, off-topic and right back on like these guys. I am smooth as an old mans buttocks)? They don’t give a fuck. They are willing to experiment, and it’s kept at until it fits like an Isotoner. They can get heavy when they decide it sounds like a good idea, and get a little mainstream when it seems like it’s cool to do. Lyrics this time are much more in tune with the feminine side, dealing with love and forgiveness, but I recall hearing Lucifer’s name being called upon at one point. The final track on this E.P., “Bodycount”, has this absolutely hilarious addition from a couple female vocalists, but it’s good.
I can’t help it, I like these guys. This is highly original music, which may not necessarily be easy to get into if you’re a close-minded metalhead, but stuff that will pay off if you keep listening to it. I was willing to give it the chance before, here I am giving it another chance now, and they didn’t exactly piss me off. Congratulations, you guys don’t suck.
Now send me a shirt, size L.
